Get more SALES on Etsy using this simple step-by-step strategy
Updated: Aug 26, 2020
Want to know the tool and strategy that I’ve recently discovered, to help generate more sales in your Etsy Shop?
Well, you’re in the right place as today, I’m going to talk all about it, so sure to stick around.
Initially, when I started my Etsy shop, I couldn’t understand the value of people actually Liking my shop and listings. Yes, you can send out coupons to people who have recently favourited your listings, but honestly, I’m yet to see a single transaction from these emails. And on top of that, I actually have no control of how and when Etsy actually send these emails out.
But recently I discovered a new tool inside the Etsy Sellers Ap that incorporates favourites to actually increase sales in your Etsy shop.
Ready to find out what it is?
So the tool that I’ve recently discovered is actually one you already have sitting on your mobile... It’s actually a tool inside the Etsy sellers App (so the app you use to manage your store on mobile - and if you’re yet to download the Etsy app I highly recommend it. Not only is the app a great tool to manage your Etsy shop on the go, it’s also the way I’m able to receive those oh-so-exciting cha-chings to my phone).
Okay, so back to the feature. So the feature I’m talking about today is the Shop Updates Feature. Now if you haven’t heard of this feature before, it’s okay as it’s kinda hard to find, but if you watch the how-to video above, I'll show you where you can find it...
So now that you know that this feature exists, now you’re wondering how to use it…
Before I get into the Shop Updates feature, firstly I think it’s important to discuss how likes and favourites work in your Shop...
When someone likes your listing or even your Etsy shop, this is telling you that this person is interested in either making a purchase of the listing or purchase from your shop sometime in the future.
A way to encourage them to come back and finalise the purchase can be done by giving these people updates about what’s happening in your Etsy shop.
Etsy will then notify these people about any new products you list in your shop, any updates you make to your product listings (like for example a price increase or decrease) or if you run a sale on your shop or on particular listings.
So if we now understand that when people like or favourite our products or shop, whenever you make an update, Etsy will notify this person of the changes or sales you have on that particular listing. Be sure to watch the video above on a step-by-step example of how you can use the feature on your mobile device.
Now that you understand how you can drive more attention and sales using this tool. Now you're wondering...
"...that’s cool Alicia but how do I encourage browsers to favourite my shop or listings to get these notifications in the first place?"
Well, that’s a great question and there are a few ways you can do this. Firstly you can add some text to the bottom of all your listings that say something like this” Be sure to favourite this listing so you can easily find it later” or “be sure to favourite my shop so you never miss an update or any sales in the future”.
Another way you can increase your shop like and favourites are by adding a 'Call To Action' in one of your listing images to encourage people who are browsing your shop and listings to click the “heart” icon and save the listing to their favourites list.
Pretty cool right?
And the best part about all of this is that it’s completely FREE, meaning that you can increase your sales without having to spend a dime.
I would recommend creating Etsy shop updates once or twice a month. And the key here is to make an Etsy shop update a week or so after you’ve listed the products. Why? Because when you first list the product, people that have favourited your shop will automatically receive a notification of a new product in your store, so give it a bit of time before you post an update, so they’re not bombarded with information about the same listing again.
I guess the main objective here is to remind your audience of what you have available without overwhelming them with too many updates.
I hope that this was helpful for you today and I encourage you to play around with the Etsy Shop Updates Feature on your mobile and see if it encourages more interaction and sales in your shop.
