Why You NEED a Blog For Your Online Store (& How to Add a Blog to Shopify)
Updated: Oct 29, 2020
Have you got a blog for your online store? If not, you need to get one set-up pronto. In this video/blog article, I’ll run through why you NEED to have a blog for your online store and how to get it set-up today.
In October last year, Forbes released an article listing the Top Marketing Trends for 2020.
The list includes Shoppable Posts, Augmented Reality, Interactive posts, Video Content, Personalisation and a few other trends.
But the one that stood out to me was the Content Marketing trend. The article reads:
For years, “content is king” has been the axiom of digital marketing. As we move into 2020, it continues to be true. High-quality content allows you to show your expertise and communicate with your customers from a place of authority. Your content is also what search engines provide to searchers online, so continuing to produce high-quality content is a must.
Creating consistent content/blog posts for your online store helps you communicate to your customers that you are coming from a place of authority. That you are the leader in your field.
You may have heard that “blogs are dead” but it couldn’t be further from the truth. Quality content can be seen as highly valuable and by adding it to your store, you are more likely to capture the attention of your potential customer.
Also, you don’t have to think of your blog in the traditional sense either. Think of it more from the content point of view. Just like you would share details of your online store on social media, use your blog to provide insights into your business.
For example: If you had an online store selling handmade bows for young girls between 1-5 years of age. Could you create a blog post with a video tutorial on how to use the bows in your girl’s hair? Could you provide a post with a free download with a list of the top 5 styles you can create with the bows? You could create a post with details of the fabrics you use to create the bows. What makes them special?
What about a post to foster engagement and interaction. Could you create a post which includes images of all the latest fabric designs samples and get your customers to pick which one they would like you to use for your next product launch?
There are endless possibilities here, but the key is to provide amazing value which will wow your potential customer.
So now you understand the importance of having a blog, let’s run through the steps on how you can add one to your Shopify store so you can start uploading your amazing content and start up-levelling your business today.
